Passive Aerosol Generator

2 Technical Specifications
This section presents the technical specifications for the various components that make up the system. Applicable drawings are included in Section 3.

2.1 Passive Aerosol Generator

2.1.1 Piezoelectric Ultrasonic Transducers
The piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers used in the PK-2000 are made of lead-zirconite-titanate-four (PZT-4). This material yields high power transmission characteristics which are ideally suited to high driving fields. The transducer assemblies in the PK-2000 are 1 inch in diameter and focused at 1 inch in demineralized water. The transducers are mounted in stainless steel housings using a conductive "O" ring as the ground contact and nickel electrodes. The transducers are mounted in the housings such that there is no load on the reverse side (air backed) in order to maximize their output at the point of focus. Additionally, the transducers are impedance matched to the continuous wave power amplifier to optimize efficiency.

2.1.2 Oscillator Frequency Generator
This unit is a digital function generator/counter capable of producing 5 different wave forms. These are sine, square, triangle, pulse, and ramp. The unit has an adjustable range from 0.1 Hz to 2.3 MHz in 7 ranges. It has a variable output amplitude from 5 mV to 20 Vp-p, variable symmetry/duty cycle from 5% to 95% in the ramp/pulse mode, continuous or externally controlled outputs, DC offset between -10 v to +10 v can be added to all output wave forms. Additional technical and/or service information is available through your ET representative. Operation of this equipment in any manner other than that specifically identified in the "Operations and Users Manual" may result in personnel hazards and may damage the equipment.

2.1.3 Continuous Wave Power Amplifier
The CW power amplifier is an all solid state amplifier which has a flat frequency response from 250 kHz to 105 MHz. It provides 50 watts of linear power with low harmonic and intermodulation distortion. Additional technical and/or service information is available through your ET representative. Operation of this equipment in any manner other than that specifically identified in the "Operations and Users Manual" may result in personnel hazards and may damage the equipment.

2.1.4 Pressurization Chamber Heating System
The pressurization chamber heating system uses a 2,000 watt heating element to heat liquids in the lower reservoir. That liquid is circulated into the upper reservoir where a thermocouple measures the temperature of the liquid. The thermocouple transmits the data to a miniature autotune temperature controller. The temperature controller engages a relay that closes the contacts to the heating element. Additional technical and/or service information is available through your ET representative. Operation of this equipment in any manner other than that specifically identified in the "Operations and Users Manual" may result in personnel hazards and may damage the equipment.

2.1.5 Pressurization Chamber Pressurization Fan D.C. Power Supply
This unit is an open-frame A.C. powered power supply. It provides 2v to 15v outputs. Additional technical and/or service information is available through your ET representative. Operation of this equipment in any manner other than that specifically identified in the "Operations and Users Manual" may result in personnel hazards and may damage the equipment.

2.1.6 Reservoir Recirculation System Pump
The reservoir recirculation system pump uses a versatile electric pump drive and incorporates a high torque permanent magnet D.C. motor which is totally enclosed and permanently lubricated. The unit uses solid-state speed control circuitry. It has reversible flow direction and the ten turn locking micrometer dial speed control offers excellent flow control. The motor has an operating range of from 1 to 100 revolutions per minute. Power requirements at 100 to 130 VAC. Additional technical and/or service information is available through your ET representative. Operation of this equipment in any manner other than that specifically identified in the "Operations and Users Manual" may result in personnel hazards and may damage the equipment.

2.1.7 Cabinet Cooling System
The cabinet cooling fan is an A.C. powered fan that operates at 45 cfm. The fan and motor are an integral unit and there are no operating controls. Energizing the main power cabinet energizes the fan.
